J.Naughton Equine Ltd supplies, produces and competes Irish Performance ponies and horses, suited for riders of all levels.

Our story goes back three generations of horsemanship.
The late Vincent Finn was a respected trainer and producer, known for his success in gymkhanas and lifelong dedication to horses.
His daughter, the late Riona Finn, carried this tradition forward as a renowned horsewoman who was a HSI Level 2 coach, with a gifted eye for selecting and producing top ponies at many aspects. Riona also taught an equine PLC course in Galway Community College with many students who speak highly of the course.

Today, the legacy continues through J Naughton, son of Riona and grandson of Vincent, who has competed at the top level of showjumping.

Through J Naughton Equine Ltd, he remains committed to producing and supplying quality ponies and horses, always searching for the next star while upholding the family’s tradition of skill and well known horsemanship.

About our Stock

J.Naughton Equine is mainly sourcing performance Connemara ponies at present. The Connemara pony is a safe and sensible breed with the ability to be top athletes.

Our ponies are carefully selected from across the country, many from breeders we have had relationships with through the generations.
Every horse is personally evaluated and selected based on breed type, athleticism as well as a balanced mind.
The yard is primarily full of 4 and 5 year old Connemara ponies as well as Cobs and Irish horses, which typically range from heights of 148cm to 160cm.

There are all types of horses on the yard- from all rounders to competition ponies, J.Naughton Equine has it!

All of our ponies begin their education on the farm. They are carefully produced to be versatile all around ponies, with confident and balanced attitudes as well as the experience of many different equestrian disciplines. All generations truly believe that to get a great pony- they need to be exposed to as many situations as possible at this young age so nothing phases them in the future.
Once our ponies have been broken, they get a wide range of work to determine which discipline they will excel in such as; Foxhunting with the world renowned Galway blazers, Showing competitions, Showjumping and Cross country as well as hacking down busy roadways and through the countryside, open fields, beach rides and flatwork schooling.

Coming from a working farm, our ponies are well used to heavy farm machienery and livestock.

We believe this wide range of work builds the ponies courage and boldness over obstacles, getting accustomed to varied terrains while maintaining a steady and reliable attitude.
